Dinosaur Guide

The Fairyland Dinosaurs were introduced in September 2020.

This long-term challenge brings back many of the original ‘level-up’ Fairyland wildlife,
and different Gardens need to attract different ones every week.

Building a Dinosaur Nest

Dinosaurs hatch from Dinosaur Eggs, so the first thing you need is a Dinosaur Nest in which to hatch them. Nests are built on a Nesting Rock, these can be gifted by friends or you can buy one for yourself for the price of 10 Gold. Place the nest in your garden, then you need to spot Dinosaurs in other gardens to add twigs to it.

Each Dinosaur nest can only be built by five (5) of the same Dinosaur, but don‘t worry, Dinosaurs will not help to build a nest if it has already been started by a different Dinosaur, so you won’t accidentally ruin your nest by spotting the wrong one. Dinosaur nests are like bird nests, they can be used for hatching an egg five (5) times. After five (5) uses they break, which means you lose one of the five (5) Dinosaurs which helped to build it and you will need to spot it again to repair the nest.

You can claim your first nest, already built by Diplodocus and ready to use, by clicking here.

Getting a Dinosaur Egg

Once you have an empty completed Dinosaur Nest in your garden, you can get an Egg either by attracting wildlife to your Garden, or spotting it in other Gardens. Each 5th critter (either attracted or spotted) will drop the Egg. The wildlife which drops Dinosaur Eggs changes every week at midnight GMT every Sunday evening and is different for different players, so you need to check each week to see which wildlife you need. Each Dinosaur has its own group of wildlife from which one critter is chosen randomly when you level up. After that you will follow a set order, which is the same for everyone.

Hatching the Dinosaur Egg

Dinosaurs eat Veggies, Bird Mix, Wild Berries or Tropical Fruits from both Low and Raised Tables. Eggs will hatch the best from nests built by that same Dinosaur. It is possible to hatch from a different Dinosaur’s nest, but it will usually take much longer to hatch. The probability of an Egg hatching from a nest built by different Dinosaur is five (5) times lower compared to using the correct nest. Egg gives an alert before the Dinosaur hatches.

The reward for completing the Dino challenge is a Free Superfood ‘Weekend’ (48 hours) every month, which you can start whenever you like!

Note: Same rules apply as for the public free SF weekends, which means you need to wait at least 2 hours after placement to clear any Superfood while the reward is activated.

Tips

You can use hatched Dinosaur Eggshells as regular pots for your plants.
The Egg is always dropped to the best suitable Nest available in your garden,
so you need not to worry about the placement of nests if you are hunting/attracting
for more than one kind of Dinosaur at once.
It is not possible to get Dinosaur Twins or Triplets (just one Dinosaur per egg, sorry!)
It is not possible to get two Dinosaurs of the same kind to visit within 1 hour or each other,
even if you have more than one Egg. It is probably caused by the same programming which prevents Twins (see above).
If you have two or more Eggs of the same Dinosaur in nests built by different Dinosaurs,
the Egg will most likely hatch from the one built by the same Dinosaur, regardless of its position.
There doesn’t seem to be set order (left to right, or right to left) for hatching eggs from the same type of nests.
