Bird Nesting Guide

Bird Nests are an exciting addition in your Fairyland Garden and can be used in to incubate eggs and hatch cute Chicks! Eggs can be found in two ways, either by attracting certain Adult Fairyland Birds to your Garden (this can be done at any time of the year), or by finding eggs dropped by the Easter Bunny (only available during the Easter Season). Here we will explain how to use your Nest, you can click on a link below to go straight to that section or follow the guide through from start to finish

Nest Building

To build your Nest, first you will need to place a Nesting Tree in your garden, these can be gifted by friends or picked up on your Facebook News Feed. Once you have placed your Nest in your Garden you will then need to start attracting Birds.  Nesting Trees are available in five diferent colours, as  shown below, the colour will have NO EFFECT on the outcome of how your Nest can be used, they all work in exactly the same way. The colour of your Nest is random, if you would like a specific colour then you will need to keep accepting gifts until you get the colour you require.

You will need to attract 5 DIFFERENT TYPES OF BIRDS to your Garden overall to build your Nest. For example, you could start with the Pair of Lovebirds, once a multiple of five (5) Pair of Lovebirds have been spotted in your garden they will give you a 20% part of your Nest. Then you need to move to a different Bird, for example Macaws, once you have a multiple of 5 Macaws spotted in your garden another 20% part will be added to your Nest, (these are of course just examples and you can attract any type of Bird from the list below to help build your Nest). You need to repeat this for 5 DIFFERENT BIRDS. You will also receive a 20% part of your nest if it is the first time that a particular bird has been spotted in your garden.

All Adult Birds (except the Cuckoo) will add a a 20% part to your Nest, you can use our list below to see which Birds you could attract to your Garden to build your Nest. Remember if you spot Birds in someone else’ Gardens they DO NOT help build your own Nest, you need to have the  Birds spotted in your own Garden. However, the Birds you spot in other Gardens will help to build that Garden Owners Nest. You can build as many Bird Nests as you want to and you can send them to storage at any time for safe keeping when you want to do something else.

** IMPORTANT **

Please note when building your Nest that birds will only nest and lay eggs in a Nest which they have helped to build.
So for example, a Wren will only nest and lay an egg in a Nest which another Wren helped to build.
You may want to bear this in mind when building your nest.

Here is a full list of all the Birds that can help build a Nest and how to attract them.

Nesting Birds

Once you have completed your nest you can then use it to help the Fairyland birds to lay their eggs in. For this you will need to get an adult bird to nest.

First of all you will need an empty completed nest in your garden. Decide which chick you’d like to try for first, and attract the adult bird to your Garden while the completed nest is sitting there empty. Every 10th of that bird spotted in your Garden will nest in your empty nest (remember, the nest must have been part-built by that same type of bird!)

For individual set up advice please check our Ultimate Set Up guides using the links below.

Nesting Nightingale
Nesting Oriole
Nesting Roadrunner
Nesting Singing Bush Lark
Nesting Waxwing
Nesting Woodpecker
Nesting Wren
Nesting Yellow Wagtail

When the adult bird is nesting in your Garden, it will have a task for you to complete before it will lay an egg (speak to the bird to ask it about the task – different birds will have different tasks for you.) The task will always involve finding birds in other gardens.

The birds are split into groups, each task will involve finding your next multiple of five of one of the other birds within that group.

Bird Groups
The cuckoo can ask you to spot any of the other birds and does not have a set group
Group 1: Wren, Yellow Wagtail, Chaffinch, Singing Bush Lark
Group 2: Nightingale, Bee Eater, Roadrunner, Waxwing
Group 3: Kingfisher, Oriole, Chickadee, Blue Jay
Group 4: Woodpecker, Magpie, Jackdaw, Crane

Once you have completed your task the bird will lay its egg in your nest, and you will then need to leave the correct food out for the chick (use a low feeding table with bird mix) and it will soon hatch and the chick can be spotted.

Bee Eater Blue Jay Chaffinch Chickadee Crane Jackdaw Kingfisher Magpie Nightingale
Cuckoo Oriole Roadrunner Singing Bush Lark Waxwing Woodpecker Wren Yellow Wagtail

**IMPORTANT**

Watch out for Cuckoos!
They are attracted to, and will nest in, any empty nest! You can either deter them with Butterpillaflora flowers or shoo them away if an unwanted one decides to nest in your Garden. It is best to deter cuckoos as shooing one away will count as one use of your nest (5 uses will result in you needing to repair your nest, please see nest repairs below).

Nest Repairs

Once your nest has been used five times it will become slightly damaged and will need some minor repair work before you can use it again, it will go back down to 80% complete and you will then need to repair the nest in the same way you built it. You will need to attract some more birds to help build it again as before. Be careful to check which bird you have lost from those that helped to build the nest as you will need a different bird to those that have already helped. When you hover your mouse over your nest you can check which birds helped to build it and how many uses are left before it needs repairing.

It will always be the bird that is furthest to the left that will drop off the list of birds that has helped to build that nest. For example in the nest shown below the nest will need repairing after another 3 more uses and will lose the element built by the singing bush lark.

It counts as one use each time you incubate an egg or if you discard an unhatched egg from the nest. Shooing a bird away also counts as one use, so be careful to deter the cuckoos using a butterpillaflora plant rather than let them use your carefully prepared nest.

Nests completed by ALL HUMMINGBIRDS will never need repairing, they are ideal for the Easter Chicks as they can be used over and over to incubate without breaking.

Easter Chicks and Chocolate Bunnies

You can also use your completed Nest to incubate cute Easter Chicks and Chocolate Bunnies during the Easter Season. The Easter Bunny drops an egg every time you spot it in another Garden! (But only if you have an empty nest in your own Garden ready to incubate it).

The Egg will then be incubated in your Nest until you are ready to hatch it. For Easter Chicks simply place some bird mix on a low table in your Garden and your Egg will soon hatch as a cute Baby Chick and for Chocolate Bunnies you will need wild berries on a low table!Once the Chick has been spotted you can then try and find another Easter Bunny to drop another Egg. Each nest will be able to incubate 5 Eggs altogether, one after the other, not at the same time. Once your Nest has been used to incubate 5 Eggs it will need repairing as explained above.

With the Easter Eggs there is an easy way to tell how many times your Nest has been used (and therefore how many more times before it will need a repair), by the “Pattern” on the Egg in a particular Nest. The pattern will tell you which number egg it is in that nest.

The First Egg Pattern is Spots

The Second Egg Pattern is Hearts

The Third Egg Pattern is Flowers

The Fourth Egg Pattern is Butterflies

The Fifth Egg Pattern is Stars

Bunny

These are the various coloured eggs that can be dropped by the Easter Bunny.
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Rainbow, Chocolate, White Chocolate and Dark Chocolate
Other than the Rainbow Egg which is dropped when you spot a multiple of 10 Easter bunnies it is totally random as to which colour egg the Easter Bunny will drop for you. However the Chocolate Eggs are much rarer than the Coloured Easter Eggs!

The Easter Bunny will very occasionally drop a Chocolate Egg instead of the usual decorated ones! However this only happens extremely rarely (there’s only about a 1 in 100 chance that the egg will be Chocolate.) The White and Dark Chocolate Eggs are harder to find than the regular ones.

Easter eggs hatch the following wildlife-
Red Eggs can hatch a Red Chick
Orange Eggs can hatch a Red Chick or an Orange Chick.
Yellow Eggs can hatch a Red Chick, Orange Chick or a Yellow Chick.
Green Eggs can hatch a Red Chick, Orange Chick, Yellow Chick or a Green Chick.
Blue Eggs can hatch a Red Chick, Orange Chick, Yellow Chick, Green Chick or a Blue Chick.
Indigo Eggs can hatch a Red Chick, Orange Chick, Yellow Chick, Green Chick, Blue Chick or an Indigo Chick.
Violet Eggs can hatch a Red Chick, Orange Chick, Yellow Chick, Green Chick, Blue Chick, Indigo Chick or a Violet Chick.
Rainbow Eggs will hatch a Rainbow Chick
Chocolate Eggs will hatch a Chocolate Bunny
White Chocolate Eggs will hatch a White Chocolate Bunny
Dark Chocolate Eggs will hatch a Dark Chocolate Bunny

You can use our Wildlife Guide to see how many diamonds the Easter Wildlife is worth.
