Halloween Challenge - Some Useful Help!
Wednesday October 16th
Many of you have already started attempting the Halloween Challenge this year, and a few lucky gardens have even completed it already, which is great going!
However as mentioned previously, this challenge starts out
very difficult but gets much easier over time... here's all the help you need so you can try to complete it by Halloween!
The challenge is to build a "Witch" Scarecrow, something like this one (you've probably seen a few around the gardens already!)
To complete a "Witch" Scarecrow, you'll need to collect:
- A black witch's hat (must be the one shown above)
- A black witch's top (shirt)
- A black witch's skirt (legs)
- She can have any head you like :)
As usual, these parts are dropped by every 5th Halloween Wildlife you spot (ghostly mice & mallards, bats and cats.) However there's only about a 1 in 7 chance of a "witch" part being dropped instead of a regular scarecrow part, so you will need to have pretty good luck to build a complete Witch Scarecrow this way (that's what we mean by the challenge starting out very difficult!)
However the good news is that this challenge becomes much easier over time...
Gardens which have completed a Witch Scarecrow (and also have a RFH Halloween Flower to make witches fly around the Garden) will begin attracting Zombie Mice & Mallards - these are now listed in the Wildlife Guide. These Zombies ALWAYS drop "Witch" parts for every 5th spotted, which means that you only need to spot 5 of each of them to complete your own witch.
Therefore the more Gardens that complete the challenge, the easier it becomes for everyone else, so if you're finding this challenge too difficult right now, wait until a little closer to Halloween, when Zombie Mice & Mallard will be taking over lots more Fairyland Gardens and will be much easier to spot.
Discarding Scarecrow Parts
New this year, we've also added a feature where you can discard individual scarecrow parts, to help you build the perfect scarecrow!
To do this, click the [more info] link next to where it says "incomplete" in your scarecrow's popup, and you'll see where you can discard individual items (note: you can't discard items after a scarecrow has been "completed", so remember to not allow your scarecrow to be completed by the Crow before you're happy with it!)
Zombie Field Mice
Until now, Zombie Field Mice have been dropping scarecrow heads (just like the Ghostly Field Mice.) However these aren't so useful for witch-building as a witch can have any head. So the great news is that Zombie Field Mice have now started dropping Witch's Hats instead, which are much more useful :)
Good luck, and have fun with this challenge!
